Scholarship Program:

For nearly a decade, NATO of New Jersey has fostered the next generation of theater professionals through its annual scholarship program. For many students, working in a theatre is their first sample of life and learning after the classroom. The cinema environment introduces young people to the importance of skills ranging from customer relations, facility management and food safety to transaction processing and cash handling.

1. Any person, who is a High School Senior or College Student and is either employed by a Motion Picture Theatre in New Jersey is eligible.

2. Applicants MUST be employed at a NATO of New Jersey Member Theatre with a total minimum of ONE (1) YEAR employment by the theatre company.

1. Ten Scholarships will be awarded. One in the amount of $2,000 and nine second place awards of $1,000 each. The Scholarships can either be applied to the winner's tuition at the school where the winner matriculates or to the student directly upon proof that the student is enrolled at a College.

1. A commitee will review all applications and select one first and nine second place winners and an alternate, in case one of the winners does not attend college.

2. The criteria used to select the winners is based on theatre employment of the applicant or parent, financial need, grades, extra curricular activities and other information from the applicant.

3. The winner must be enrolled in a College, University or Trade School, for the full term and must meet all qualifications for the school of their choice.

4. If the winner does not attend college in the fall 2014 or winter 2015, the award will go to the next scoring applicant.

5. These Scholarship Awards are not affected by any other scholarships earned by an applicant.

2014 Application due by Tuesday, December 1, 2015 and winners will be announced on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
